Talk about a sweet little baby. I could have played with her all day long. It took her a little while to get settled but once she did, she was a dream. I think maybe even momma was able to take a little nap during our session. I love it when that happens.
I have this belief that for a baby to truly settle and let me do what I need to do to capture these portraits, they need to feel safe and secure. Just like with adults and older children, they need to trust you. Because of this, sometimes it takes a little while to get into the swing of things. So while we wait for the gas to settle, the feedings, and all that other important baby stuff to end, I get to hold and snuggle with these sweet things until they know that they can trust me enough to fall deep into sleepy-land. When families come into my newborn portrait studio for the first time, we all need to get to know each other a little bit. I’m not sure I would have been totally keen on handing over my little teeny baby to a complete stranger when it was so young. So it is totally normal for us to spend a little time chatting and settling in before we get down the actual session. Everyone from baby to mommy and daddy need to feel comfortable with me and what I do during a session.
After a little bit of time, you can see that this little one had no problem sleeping away while I carried on around her. I could have played with her all afternoon.
Love all the little details. Like lashes that are so very dainty.
I love using these little bracelets in my sessions. My mom made these for me to use and they are just the perfect little accessory.
Don’t delay if you are expecting and want to schedule a newborn/maternity portrait session. I would love to hear from you!
